Belonging. Something that we all search for. Something we are hard wired for. Something we depend on communities to help us feel safe, valued, appreciated, and loved. But what is it exactly...?
It's something we can't intellectualize. Maybe it's hard to define intellectually, but we feel it in our body when we have it and we don't. And I started reflecting on my journey, my search for belonging.
Sometimes, what can be more painful than not having belonging is the sensation of having it and then losing it. Sometimes, the belonging we felt from being part of a beautiful community, dies. What do we do then? How do we navigate the tension between the pull of lingering in a relationship that no longer serves us and the pull of exiting into an unknown future which looks lonely and scary.
In this video, I share my search for belonging and what I've learnt over the years from the different communities I've been a part of.
