[Gartner says that global AI spending in 2026 will reach $6.15 Trillion](https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2026-02-03-gartner-forecasts-worldwide-it-spending-to-grow-10-point-8-percent-in-2026-totaling-6-point-15-trillion-dollars). And [McKinsey says that 80% of companies using AI have seen no significant gains in topline or bottom-line performance](https://www.mckinsey.com/cn/our-insights/our-insights/beyond-the-hype-unlocking-value-from-the-ai-revolution). What might be the reason behind this and how can you avoid becoming part of this unfortunate statistic?

Based on our observations, there are 6 common mistakes that are the root causes behind this needless destruction of value. And there are 3 questions and 5 actions that can help  organizations avoid these mistakes.
